warlord scale creep - Italians
« on: December 23, 2021, 08:35:07 AM »
I have finally received my box of Warlord Italians and I have started assembling a few -they are great figures full of action but boy are they HUGE- They dwarf my Perrys and Empress Italians, let alone the old warlord ones. It's really difficult to mix them together - even if I am not too fussy about this. But these boys are really big!

Have you  any other Warlord plastics? I find they are all on the larger size. Even so they usually mix well with their older metal stuff.

Perry makes models of WW2 soldiers.

Warlord makes models of WW2 reënactors.

To be fair, most re-enactors ilike their pasta too…….but I wouldn’t say they are necessarily tall!

It’s true though, Warlord minis are more heroic scale than Perry minis.   It would be interesting to know how they scale up to Warlord Afrika Korps however….I may have to order a sprue.

Ok folks, here are some photos for a comparison - sorry for the poor quality, I am working on it

left to right: new plastic warlord / Empress
same as above
old metal warlord; new metal warlord; Empress; Perry

Looking at that, if you are right, it looks like the old metal warlord were tiny!

:o Wow won't be adding them to my Italians
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it anymore and what is it seems weird and scary.

It's always been a major problem for warlord, buying up different manufacturers means a lot of inconsistency, the old Italians iirc weren't sculpted in-house.

I would advise everyone to avoid the new french resistance, bland (at best) sculpts, size weirdly inconsistent even within the range.

Honestly, Warlord stuff is just really bad, pretty much across the board.

For me, the question is really whether the new minis stack up with their other recent  plastic releases?  How do the Italians compare say to the plastic British ?

If they do, then surely it’s understandable that they would have grown because those metal ones looked tiny.
