Lion Rampant AAR - Clash of mercenaries
« on: January 05, 2022, 11:31:57 AM »
Hi all

Yesterday we played our first game of the year. Lion Rampant 24points per side Bloodbath scenario. We both played as mercenary forces, mine were from Burgundy and my opponent was commanding Silesian Mercenaries.

I had Mounted Men at Arms, Foot Men at Arms, Crossbowmen with shields, Archers and Bidowers with handguns.
My opponent brought very have force with 2 Mounted Men at Arms and 2 Foot Men at Arms.

The game started with duel between commanders, below you can see my best first roll of the game
Lucky my units didn't run away after seeing their commander lying in the dirt.

Most of the fights were done in the middle of the table where Men at Arms kept charging withdrawing and charging again until there was only one unit left of each side.

The game ended with my opponent failing his last activation. Both of us ended up with the same amount of points on the table.

We haven't played LR in ages so it was refreshing change for both of us and the tie for first game of the year is not a bad result either.  ;)

Thanks! So by commanders I meant Leaders of the retinue. There is this table in the book where you roll two dice and see what kind of leader you get. Their skills are not very powerful but can be good in certain situations.

Yep, I've got the LR rules too. Thing is, these days with the advance of 'galloping old fartdom', we seldom need rules to replicate a complete dick being in command!

:?
