Normandy Corps Attack - Devon Wargames Group
« on: December 12, 2021, 05:56:44 PM »
This weekend saw the final club big-game played at the DWG which brings our club year to an end.

This year's theme was WWII 15mm for which the club enjoys several members holding large collections and thus presenting the opportunity to put on a mega-game such as this one.

As with all our previous end of year games the focus is very much on bringing the whole club together in one game, having fun and celebrating our hobby and this game lived up to those principles in spades.

If you would like to know more then just follow the link to the club blog.

What a project! Great table, write up, and presentation. Is that teddy bear fur for some of the fields? Looks brilliant.

Hi and thank you.
Yes indeed, you’re correct in spotting the teddy bear fur and let me assure all concerned that absolutely no teddy bears were harmed in the production of this game.

Cheers

Hi and thank you.

Carojon, great looking game and nice write-up. I was never a fan of Rapid Fire albeit I know many people swear by them. However having seen a few recent posts recommending "Rapid Fire Reloaded" I may put my hand in my pocket, buy them and give them a go.

SJWi,
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the read.

I think myself and most of the chaps played Rapid Fire back in the day, but soon progressed to other rules as our tastes developed and changed. As mentioned in the AAR we selected the updated version because of the fast, ease of play to allow club members not into WWII to get the rules quicker than not and thus to speed up play in a very big game.

I must say that the ‘Reloaded’ version of the rules are an improvement on before but I prefer to game at battalion or company level and myself and most of the chaps are using other rule sets, most of which have featured at club and can be found in the various posts under the WW2 label or under the name off the rules labels example including I Ain’t Been Shot Mum, IABSM and Chain of Command to mention just two.

Thanks for your comments chaps, the club really pulled out the stops in organising the various collections of figures and terrain, not to mention the scenario planning as well, and we really managed to finish our gaming calendar on a high which I know our good friend and former club member Gus would have really enjoyed.

As club chairman I am really proud of the chaps and organising these kinds of games at our AGM is a pleasure, having so many willing hands to call on who can pull these kind of projects together.

Cheers
JJ

Terrific setup, an impressive example of club organization and cooperation, and a great memorial to your late member!
