Is this Ral Partha dragon still available?
« on: August 02, 2022, 05:15:54 AM »
Ran across this guy on a local auction site, but the money asked is pretty crazy. They claim it's OOP, but most Ral Partha dragon moulds have found a home somewhere along the line.

I believe this is the Gold Dragon from the Council of Wyrms range. So; is anyone still making these?

That's a nice looking dragon figure. Hopefully it's available somewhere.

It's a long shot but assuming it's not available elsewhere, many of the ral partha dragons found their way into the ornaments ranges, normally with crystals glued to them. You might have some luck by searching for that on ebay. As i say, it's only a slim chance.

I looked at the Iron Wind Metals and Ral Partha Europe websites and didn't see it (though the IWM site had some similar pieces but with different heads). Might be worth emailing either of them to see if it's still rattling around even if they're not actively selling it online?

Ral Partha Legacy is slowly releasing some very old RP models. Even if not available now it might very well be in the near future.

If it was a licensed AD&D range then possibly not as the minis went with the license. Could be wrong of course... often am  ;D

I'd contact Jacob Fathbruckner from Ral Partha Chaos Wars to see if he has the molds. If so, just wait.
I don't think it's a TSR-licensed dragon and it's not one of the big guys so it should be a 40-ish euro Dragon at most imho.

Cheers guys.

To be honest, I wasn't on the lookout for any dragon, but I know a nice sculpt when I see one. So I did some due diligence and checked RP dragon prices on Ebay. They ranged from $5,- to €250,- , averaging heavily to the lower end of the spectrum.

So I offered them €20,- , thinking it was a sharp bid, but not ridiculous. Turns out they were expecting something in the area of €300,- !  :o lol

Which is when I pointed them to www.ralparthalegacy.com for a reality check on their price expectations, but of course this particular one wasn't listed there and the first reference I did find was on the Reaper forums (which is where the painted pic is from).

Turns out they did not know which dragon they were offering, so they thanked me for that referral, but I'm not any closer to finding out what a reasonable amount would be for that model... ::)

I'm not hung up on it though, and I'm not really set on buying it either; it was just an opportunity I ran into, but now I am curious to find if it truly is worth that much...

yes - seems AD&D licensed 11-576 Gold Dragon

Some persons in past have listed on evil bay upwards of $70 ish.

Would not have thought the intervening time had added that much to its value.

Nice though.

Not 300 Euro nice, but nice

It was indeed a licensed range - I'm quite sure these are no longer in production and they do tend to be rather pricey in the second hand market.
