8.8 cm Flak 18 (Sfl.) auf Zugkraftwagen 12t

You see that bunker waaaay over there?
Ja
I don't want to
Jawol!
*BANAGA*
*Sad bunker noises*

So during the Spanish civil war they found that the 88 is pretty good at putting 88mm holes in pretty much anything but it was a bit of a heavy sod to move about... so take one heavy half track, in this case an SdKfz 8, throw away all the wood, add a load of armour and an 88mm gun, Flak 18 in this case, and you have a crude but effective mobile 88. AKA 8.8 cm Flak 18 (Sfl.) auf Zugkraftwagen 12t, Bunkerflak or Bufla.  They build 10 and they lasted to 1943.  Other models followed using different half tracks.

Printing now...

Didn't know this vehicle yet, just the later 8.8 Flak Bus with the larger compartment at the front. Thanks for inspiring some research!  :D

And as ever, cracking model!

Another freaky vehicle.

How many of these are you going to build?

How many are left?

I've got my eye on at least one after I accidentally bought a Rubicon 88.
It was for this monster but the Flak 18 is far too different so I drew it instead.

Bet you can't guess what it'll be... its obscure even for me....

Prototype printed.  Made some improvements to ease printing but it's not terrible.

Napoleonic officer for scale.
It's huge!

I reckon a stand alone Flak 18 would be a popular item. All the current 1/56 models are Flak 36 or 37. Handy for early and pre war gamers.

Errrr..  we're wargamers?

I recently had to decant the contents of the old shed, the downstairs cupboard, the family room and dining room as i was having a new shed built. It's approximately 6 years since I moved back to the UK and started collecting again, and there is a ton of stuff in there I don't even remember buying...

yep.. I'm amazed as well. I do miss it, especially the tight community, and my own personal lead mountain, now in John's tender care, but family you know...
