Only just found this thread - absolutely splendid work, and a relatively unusual subject that probably is a lot more representative of much of the guerilla-style fighting that took place in the NY/NJ/PA area for the middle part of the war, than serried ranks of Redcoats and Continentals. 

If you want to make your black figures a bit more versatile and shift to an early war context, you could have them represent Lord Dunmore's Ethiopians who supported a mixed force that included Loyalist militia, British Marines in white facings, and 14th Foot in buff (with the usual buff belts and small clothes).  In fact, I seem to recall that one or two officers and sergeants from the 14th were attached as instructors for the Ethiopians.

I think the Militia officer is just great.  The conversion is seamless, and I at first thought it was a Perry model I had never seen before.  Colonel Tye is very good, too.  I had toyed with the idea of including him in my line-up, but to my knowledge he never made it up to Westchester.

@Baron von Wreckedoften: Thanks! I've thought about that as well! As you can see I use the Ethiotpian Regiment codes mixed with Militia since I wanted some of the members to look like veterans of that Regiment.

After a three week wait for a bunch of minis needed I've finally
converted and finished two more guerilla fighters for my 'Black Brigade' warband - only two more to go now (which are being painted as we speak)!

Perry metal AWI rifleman and Southern Militia bodies with a couple of Perry plastic Zulu heads.
