The Belmainian Civil War ends
« on: June 17, 2022, 06:56:38 PM »
After a break of over two years we managed to finish our long running narrative wargame/rpg campaign set in the Kingdom (now Queendom) of Belmain in Morval Earth.

The pictures of over 700 mainly 25mm with quite a few 28mm figures here:

The background and the other 7 battles with character accounts can be found starting here:

Thanks, I cannot take full credit for the setting.  The continent of Morval Earth came into being in the early 1970s.  John (Slim) Mumford and I started fantasy gaming using the then state of the art Minifigs Mythical Earth figures, mainly elves, dwarves, hobbits, goblins, orcs and other beasts as we used (and still do) historical figures for humans.  Gradually we got fed up just dungeon crawling and with D&D so John, a talented draughtsman and surveyor, drew a map on kitchen roll paper of a continent with many lands.  His main interest was the Medieval period (mine was dark ages and ancients) so he created a very believable society in Thentis based on Medieval France and gradually we worked outwards adding new races and filling out their history, families, feuds etc. as different manufacturers added ranges so the population grew.  As we each added to our collections the background of each state, nation and race was added. And so the rules had to added to in order to fit them in.  We also use the same base map for my Morvalayn setting - essentially the same sort of thing but with the Medieval French of Thentis replaced by my Early Imperial Romans and a greater emphasis on ancients for the human races.
So the setting is about 50 years old as are some of the figures.  Now that figures have grown in height it is not so easy to fit them in - Fireforge Dwarves are taller than most of our early humans!
