Yes, I don't want to go 'off topic', but I really painted them as Mithrim Elf-Friends rather than Saxons.

Are you thinking of playing Dan's rules? Read them last night, putting my dislike of grid wargames aside. Curiously simple aren't they?

Age of Penda looks very simple but I like the concept.  I’ll certainly try it when I’ve got enough figures done.

For those of you who are interested in the range, they are now available for pre-order from North Star: https://www.northstarfigures.com/list.php?man=306

Put my pre-order in, looking forward to seeing them in the flesh.

As requested, a comparison of Wiglaf Miniatures 18mm Saxons (3 models right) with 15mm Forged in Battle (3 models left from packs WL4 Welsh Spearmen and GX5 Saxon raiders). As you can see, the ‘15mm’ and ‘18mm’ labels are pretty irrelevant. Both ranges stand around 20mm tall and are largely compatible. Wiglaf are slightly more 3-dimensional due to the poses and the separate spears, meaning they take up slightly more space on the base, but frankly the differences are marginal. This isn’t a ‘new scale’, it’s an already existing scale sculpted by one of the best.

I ordered an army pack of these from North Star last Friday; they arrived Monday, great service. The figures are fantastic, very little clean up needed and the empty hands take the wire spears very well.

Bodvoc, could you please tell if you got a pre-order army and if it included spears?
Mine arrived without spears (it was a pre-order army deal).

I got the army pack without spears (as expected). I notice the army pack is now a little dearer but with spears. Happily I had two packs of spears already.

The pre-order army deal was at a discounted price.
The post release army deal included free spears. Two different deals.

Mine arrived in Oz today. They took 14 days which is excellent service, especially in these times.

Lovely crisp castings which will need minimal cleanup - a few feed 'worms' but nothing much. They look like they'll be a joy to paint. They may well get promoted up the painting queue.
