My First Ever Old West minis
« on: June 17, 2023, 02:44:58 PM »
At salute this year I gave into temptation and grabbed a box of the Great Escape Games plastic cowboys. They come 10 to a pack and would go well with Fistful of Lead franchise of rules. Soon after I saw that Wiley Games was releasing their Fistful of Lead Reloaded 2nd Edition rules so put in a pre-order and got to painting.
I painted all 10 up and they are the first Old West setting minis I have ever owned and painted. They went together well and, using the new Army Painter Speed Paints 2.0 I also got at Salute,  they painted up very quick and nicely. I was so happy with the end result I ordered another box.

Here are the two forces I will use in my first game of FFoL 2nd Reloaded:

The Elk City, Idaho, Lawmen

The Morgan Gang

They look good - the speed paints have worked well on these.

I do like the cards you have done for them too

I’ve only built half my box so far, but do like these figures. I will be interested to see how you build the second box, and how much variety you can get across 20 figures. I’m out sure which other plastic sets could be mixed with these (other than the female set that GEG do too).

I think I saw a lot of people initially mixing them with Wargames Atlantic French partisans...the plastic box.  Maybe worth a look.

They are nice.  I’ve used them for everything but cowboys though.  I may have to revisit that.

Just got my first box to make up as cowboys.  They are nice figures, just wish they hadn’t done that kneeling pose.  Useless in my opinion.

Nice! Have fun with the rules, we do.

Could you roughly cut & glue the legs, to get the figure standing, then cover the legs
with a Milliput/Green-stuff Duster coat?

The kneeling works for a rifle armed cowboy as its a more stable firing position.

Nice bunch of cowpokes you've painted up!!! So nice in fact that it prompted me to order FFoL  lol

I've been using the Ruthless rule set but I'm always open to try something else.
