18mm Scifi Pan Afrikaan Union
« on: January 22, 2022, 06:03:56 PM »
Hello again all,
Here are my Afrikaans.

Dark brown used throughout. Photos came a bit dark....
Minis are Gzg Pau. Lovely minis as usual.

Vehicles are Matchbox & converted jeeps.
Mechs & Power Armour are 3d printed models & modified/converted using card, plastic sprue etc.
Artillery is scratchbuilt.

3D printing is a great start for making base minis & then converting them, so much easier to do....... as I only have basic 3d skills ;) :D

Thanks for your comments.

Pretty cool. Not a subject we see a lot, that's for sure 8)

Also, the layer lines on the jeep extra armour actually adds to the whole look!

The warbots are pretty nice too. They have a bit of a Tau look to them...
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Those turned out great! I know you make a few armies for yourself just curious what rules are you using?

Thanks all for the kind words.

Daeothar look here - http://castrarunis.blogspot.com/2020/05/converted-172nd-176th-jeeps-to-15mm.html. The warbots have sprue heads ( 2 sprues glued together & cut to size) as can be seen by the shape. Come to think of it, they do look like tau.... sigh another project Tau in 18mm.

WM - I absolutely love collecting GZG 18mm Infantry ( you know the must have them all  ;)  As to Rules, my favourite are Nordic's Squad Hammer & No stars in sight. Waiting for the new Gruntz to come out... As I like that system also. In my opinion both authors put a lot of love into them.

Doodler - I was trying to emulate how the crew would do the dried grass as camo ( as seen on the bases, broom bristles btw )

An addendum.
The broom bristles were natural fibre or hair hence the shape & texture . I've read somewhere that real horse hair makes great reeds/thistle.
Having said that I have a synthetic coloured busted broom stashed away for fear of it being thrown away waiting to be turned into alien vegetation.
More of that later.

I absolutely agree! Plus, a fleet of all of their vehicles too!

I do like those fibers. I always feel like my natural brooms have bristles that are too coarse. Those bristles you have remind me of a shine brush from a shoe polish kit.
