Mordheim- Game photos (more added 21/2/22)
« on: January 24, 2022, 06:30:42 AM »
Had a few more games of Mordheim over the weekend. Each was a four way game. The 1st Scenario was to collect a  tome of portal magic. A local Baron made the mistake of opening his men's raiding portal too close to The Pit, and now something is trying to push its way through in the other direction. The warbands had to try and close the tome (and end the spell), whilst also looting the Baron's now abandoned farm. Surprisingly it was a band of ghouls that achieved the task.

Some very cool figures there. Sounds like the game was a lot of fun.

Great stuff. Can you give us a rundown of the figures used? Some I recognise, some I don't.

The Carnival of Chaos is mostly Rotten Factory's rotten circus (with a chicken masked Eureka chaos mini thrown in). Undead are all various GW and the Dwarves are Oathmark. Norscans are Gripping Beast and Foundry.. and tentacles are from Mythic Battles (Scylla's)

Our next game was a free for all battle in the city. The Carnival tried to attack the undead sheltering on higher ground (aided by the costumed nurgling affectionately known as BattleFish). They sent some of their band through the sewers to ambush the ghouls from behind, but it didn't work out well for them. The carnival master was knocked off the embankment and then a ghoul finished him with a diving charge.

The Vampire's pet necromancer was holding off an attack of Dwarf Treasure Hunters with his animated corpses, while a band of Norscan explorers with their tame wolves set off through the lower reaches of town looking for prey.

The Carnival caravan was set upon by wolves and a werewolf (which nearly tore off one of its wheels). While the Dwarf handgun fusilade somehow managed to set fire to their own cover.

The Carnival fled the town leaving one of their captured Brutes to be resurrected as a zombie by the necromancer. The Norscan's feared taking on the near invincible undead, and bottled out, the undead decided they had claimed enough victims and retreated, leaving the suprised Dwarves the victors on the field of battle.

Thanks.

I never tire of Mordheim, seeing what others are doing with it, battle reports etc. Keep ‘em coming.

wow, great looking games  :-*

do you play 'pure' Mordheim, or use any of the myriad supposedly 'improved' versions?

can never see what's wrong with the original game myself.

Pure Mordheim with one house rule on armour penetration. Str 5+ is a one off -1 to armour saves. So the average human cannot get a bonus to armour penetration unless they use a two handed weapon or an axe. This makes armour more worthwhile and tends to give more of a reason to equip your warband with close combat weapons other than 3gp clubs.

Heresy Ghouls and Mordheim is a match made in heaven. The Nurgly Carnival looks terrific as well.

Golgotha - the fire is made of coloured cotton. It came in Warlord's Cruel Seas starter set... possibly sold separate as well.

Citizen Sade - The Warhound is from Reaper Minis. The guy with the torch is a conversion of a free Warlord Games sailor (came with the Napoleonic Ship game they do ... can't remember its name).
