18mm Gzg Crusty Aliens.
« on: January 25, 2022, 02:22:32 PM »
Who doesn't like District 9?
These are my crusty aliens (Prawns) from Gzg .
Again another great set of minis from Jon.

The mechs are especially nice.

Thanks for your comments.

Those look really Great! That color of Orange makes them look really good and suits them very well.

Space shrimp!

Love them, Z. Those mechs are particularly iconic.

Thank you all for the kind words.
Doodler if you want to make them orange here's how.

White undercoat - orange base.
Wash with reddish brown to get armour lines.
Highlight with 2 shades of orange. Details in yellow. Wash agsin if required.

Heads black blue base. Highlight with medium blue. Wash with contrast aetherium blue ( i think that's its name). Highlight with 2 shades of light blue & finally white.

Weapons blue black , then greyish blue , wash blue black then
Highlight again.

You will get there by practice. Learn to paint by squads.
First a colour then another etc on all. I usually paint 5 to 10 at a time so that they all look the same.

If you have questions just ask.

Great paint jobs! Those Prawns could tempt me into 15/18mm sci fi, but must resist....

Welcome & thank you,

Doodler, Another great GW shade I use is Carroborg crimson, very versatile on reds, yellows, oranges, browns, flesh , metal etc... & it dries a super matt finish.
I even used it on greens & blues .... though it tends to dirty the colour on these.

Onebigriver , I used to do only 28mm once.. then I started 15/18mm and resistance was futile. ;)

Especially once you start to scratch build vehicles etc in that scale.....
