Canadian Helmets - Normandy?

I see mention that the new Mk. III "Turtle" helmet was issued to some Canadian units for Normandy, but would like to know if these troops wore a mix of the old Mk. II helmets too?

Also, while I'm asking, were these troops also using the same uniforms as other British infantry?

The three assault divisions (3, 50 and 3 Canadian) were prioritised for the Mk III helmet, along with some other stuff such as 44 Pattern webbing.  Other units and formations were largely equipped with Mk II helmets, though the Mk III became increasingly common.

Canadian-manufactured Battledress has a touch more green, though the difference is very marginal and it still looks like cowshit brown, tbh.  British troops were also occasionally issued with Canadian-manufactured uniform, so I wouldn't get too hung up about it.

It would be unlikely that there would be a mix of helmet types within a unit on or after D-Day. When equipment was renewed in preparation for the invasion, it was renewed en masse. However, it is quite possible that troops in other roles — such as transport or AA, for example, could have retained the old style helmets. Their equipment would be more likely to be issued piecemeal.

The Canadian battledress was essentially identical in design to the British, but the colour of the khaki was greener than the brown shade the UK troops were issued.
