It's a scream baby! (Fistful of Lead Horror)
« on: February 08, 2022, 12:11:33 PM »
I hope this is the right board for this.

Saw the new Scream movie the other week and it got me thinking about how to game a 'slasher' film.

My goto skirmish game rules are 'Fistful of Lead' and there is a horror supplement 'Tale of Horror'. The supplement contains a entry for Knife Wielding Maniacs and basically beefs up their close combat ability.

However, one of the things that struck me about Scream, is the ability of Ghostface to disappear whenever someone turns up - something quite hard to replicate on the tabletop.

So, I had ago at creating my own version of Ghostface (bending the rules slightly!).

Ghostface
Shoot: d0   Close Combat: d12
Traits
Brute: Use a d12 for Close Combat, no Shoot capability.
Lightning Fast: If you are a target of a successful Shoot action, immediately role a Hard Task roll (8+). If successful, the shooter misses.
Shadow Walk: On a roll of 5+, you can move up to 12” in any direction. On a roll of 8+, you can move up to 24”. Your move cannot end in Close Combat.

Weapons
Large Knife: +1 to Close Combat roll.

Also, I've got a Dependable Deputy, a Pushy Reporter, a Plucky Student and a College Scot statted up to be the opposition.

What do you think?

Sounds interesting.

Maybe change the 24" to 18"?
cheers

That's an interesting idea. I'm eager to see your game!

I'll give it a go when I try it on the tabletop. (BTW Shadow Walk was taken from the Necromancer Ancient Tome).

I just think 24" is a bit too much and might make it too unbalanced.

There is an invisibility spell in the  new Fantasy FFol Magic and Monsters book.

"Invisibility: in a blink of an eye, the Spellcaster
has vanished!
Range: self
Effect: the Spellcaster cannot be targeted by any
attack unless they themselves attack or cast a
spell. Objects picked up by the Caster also
become invisible. An attack, such as a spell that
uses a template, can be used to attack an invisible
Spellcaster but does so at a -2 to the roll. This spell
lasts until the beginning of the Caster’s next turn,
but may be maintained.
Actions: 1 to cast. Rest: 1. May be maintained"

Spells need to be rolled for to be cast ranging from 3 - 8 depending upon the level of the spellcaster. After casting the spell they need to rest for one complete turn before casting a new spell.  This Might be another option. You can remain hidden for as long as you keep rolling to succeed but your actions could be limited to moving and not necessarily attacking a figure whilst you are invisible?
