To Be Continued By GASLIGHT
« on: October 02, 2009, 02:08:08 PM »
I recently got my hands on this set of rules and they look good fun. Does anyone have experience using them?

I've also got my eyes on Astounding Tales and wondered how they compare.

I think both shy away from RPG which suits me at the moment as I'm looking to run fast moving, action driven games with minimal stats for the characters.
Don't!

I've never played To Be Continued, but I love Astounding Tales 2ed!

It has a lot of pulp larger-than-life characters like Doc Savge, The Shadow, etc... Huge list of other heroes and villains.

It handles dinosaurs and other animals, cars, airplanes, zeppelins, rocketmen, weird science, zombies, Lovecraft horror, robots, Nazi science, Victorian adventures, comic book WWII, sixties spy romps, "future" pulp, etc...

It can also handle a lot of figs. I've played a game where 5 players had ten miniatures each with no problems.

I doubt you'd be disappointed.

Thanks Warreness. I'm going to give TBCBG a bash in a couple of weeks but in the meantime I think I might order a copy of Astounding Tales.

Hey Thunder,
If you like GASLIGHT, you'll like TBC. If you don't like GASLIGHT, you won't like TBC. They have the same philosophy. My group has run a short campaign serial using them and they worked great, but we like the quick and easy aspect. The nice thing is, it's a frame work. You can add in as much as you want. If you want a lot a of built-in detail it's not for you. It's really how your group likes to play that should determine your choice.
