Hmph. Showboating

Seriously though, they're lovely (well, as lovely as sailors can get, anyway...). What era are they? Napoleonic?

Fantastic, wonderful rich colours   From the WIP photos it looked as if they are done on a white undercoat. I tried going back to a white primer, but just couldn't get the hang of it after all these years painting on black.

Thanks for all the nice comments!

@theoldschool - these were done on a black undercoat.  I'm not used to working on white too!

@Rhoderic - yes, these are Napoleonic figures, but I think we can mix them in with the Pirates.

These are all from Foundry.  But problem is that they don't seem to have any RN officers!  I need a pack of Navy officers.  Anyone know where I can get some figs that will match the Foundry ones?

Try Newline Designs - They have a range of 28mm Napoleonic Naval figures and they should be compatible. Very nice painting too :)

Great job on the Colonial Marines in the straw hats and striped trousers.

Here in Maryland, the Colonial Marines played a critical role in the War of 1812. There were a lot of plantations along the Chesapeake, and slaves from these plantations were heavily recruited to join the Royal Navy as Marines. Needless to say, stories of them joining merely inflamed local race relations, particularly in the years afterwards. The Marines themselves were largely ignored when the war ended, with the bulk settling in Maritime Canada.

It's a story in search of a good history Ph.D. thesis.

Here are more of my Royal Navy guys... I was concerned that they might look too "modern" for Pirates.  So I rewatched Pirates of the Caribbean last night and found that they are OK (at least if I want to achieve the "movie" look).

Great job, Dom! Don't worry about whether or not they're "historically accurate." They look awesome, and that's what's important!
