Don't forget that in the second Chindit campaign, the Chindits defended two localities - White City and Broadway, as well as a temporary base at Blackpool. There was heavy fighting in all three locations.

In addition there was the attack on Indaw by Ferguson's brigade and Mogaung by Calvert's brigade.

Not the most exciting of additions but everyone needs trucks. These are from the Plastic Soldier Company set of German trucks. I made up one of the Opel Blitz a while ago to serve as a civilian truck, but I've only now got around to finishing off the others. You get three kits in a box but there are options for both Opel and Mercedes cabs and so I've been able to squeeze out a fourth kit by using some of the left over parts and doing a bit of scratchbuilding to give me an extra Mercedes truck.

While I had the airbrush out I finally got around to putting paint on a few allied vehicles that were intended to be lend-lease Red Army AFVs.

The Valentine and Sherman are from Plastic Soldier Company and the Matilda from S-Models. Crew are from AB Figures.

While I was painting up the lend lease Russian tanks I also painted up a Dragon T34/85. Nice kit with much better detailing than the PSC kits (that said, the PSC kits are more robust for gaming). I made this one specifically to have some of the AB tank riders mounted. I've actually glued these in place as I think it makes a lovely piece that's almost a little diorama in its own right and I wanted something for those games where I use tankodestantniki.

A really great clean paintjob, the weathering is just fitting the scale, not overdone.

Something a little different. I bought six railway carriages on eBay some time ago and I've been hoping to find a suitable locomotive to go with them. It is possible to find fairly cheap 'non-runners' given most railway modellers prefer a working train, but so far no luck. In the end I decided to make one of the Dapol kits. These were first released by Kitmaster in the last 1950s before going to Airfix for many years. Considering their age they hold up very well and more importantly they are very reasonably priced. It was a bit more work than I was hoping to do, but I actually found it a nice change from the usual mix of guns and armour. This can be for scatter terrain (I'm thinking railyards in a major city) or for a scenario (partisan action?).

Nice, I've been looking for a cheap equivalent for 28mm for some time with no luck. All the various stl files are designed to sit on railway modellers chassis and gubbins... and O gauge running gear isn't cheap!  Any suggestions welcome...

I'm on a bit of a roll at the moment with the Second World War stuff and finishing off several projects that have needed doing for some time. One of those was a crew for one of my SU76. The AFV is a kit from UM and I had used a couple of spare Russian mortar crew figures from one of the Plastic Soldier Company sets as the gun crew. They never looked quite right and so I picked up some of the AB crew figures last year when I placed an order for some other things. They are now painted and in the SU76.

It was great to see a SU76 up close on a recent visit up to the Australian Armour and Artillery Museum. It was one of several Russian AFVs they have in their very impressive collection.

Another purchase made at the same time was the set of Russian casualty figures, something I've found very useful for using in photographs of the Chain of Command games on the blog. Once again these are from AB.

Now for a slightly different shade of green and a few American vehicles. Two tank destroyers from Armourfast with crews from AB Figures to round out my US AFV collection - a M18 Hellcat and a M36 Jackson.

And something for the late war. A M26 Pershing from Trumpeter with a crew from AB once again.
