Excellent painting on those Japanese tanks.

I agree.  Well done!

A few extras for the Fallschirmjagers. Had trouble tracking down a suitable Ie18IG infantry gun but picked up a few of the Zvezda kits at a bring & buy. The Zvezda guns I like, they have just enough detail without being overly fussy to assemble, so serve their purpose well. Inexpensive too. The crew are from AB Figures.

I wanted a few more leader figures and instead of repeating AB poses I thought I'd try a few of the Adler range. I must say, I like these very much. Well sculpted and good poses. Unfortunately they are a little on the big side, especially given how the AB Fallschirjager are definitely on the small side. It's not a deal breaker but it's certainly a shame given the quality of the Adler figures. I'm certainly going to look at some of their other ranges though, as this initial batch have impressed me.

I'm running participation games of Chain of Command at CanCon in Canberra next weekend. The scenario is set on Saipan in 1944 and focuses on a small part of the Japanese counterattack against the beachhead. Here's a few shots of the playtest:

I've added a couple of M3 75mm GMC half tracks to my Marines. These two are from the Italeri quick build set, both come in the one box and are very reasonably priced. Kits lack some detail as you might expect but overall are good. I've fudged the crew as I don't have any suitable Marine figures to hand, so these are a few spare ETO Americans simply painted in USMC colours.

My youngest son went through a spell of making models, unfortunately his interest dwindled before his stash did. Most are aircraft, but it does mean I have a bunch of unmade models tucked away that I've been trying to find a use for.

A picture of a crashed Zero at Munda inspired me to make a 1/72 Airfix Zero in the stash. Something I will use as scatter terrain for my forthcoming participation games set on Saipan in 1944 at CanCon next weekend and no doubt other games set in the Far East/Pacific in the future.

Very nice, looks like it is goijng to be a good looking game. I really miss Cancon.

Oh, and that Zero is a really nice addition to table setting... I have a 1/48 one in the stash that would work for 28mm, but it's a 'proper' (aka - 'not cheap') model, so I am not sure I can bring myself to make it a crashed one...

Good looking playtest. Good luck with the game. Looking forward to an AAR.
Didn't recall Italieri making a 1/72 M3 GMC... hmmm.

Back from CanCon and working on clearing a few near completed jobs from the workbench. These are a couple of PSC StuG III that have been sitting in the paint queue for some time, so I thought it was time to finish them off, even if I don't see an immediate need for them. As always with PSC they are a little chunky on the finer details, but the upside is they are sturdy models for gaming. I have had a go at chipping the schurtzen. I once heard someone say you need to go easy on how much you do and the moment you think you've done enough is probably the moment you've done too much! Anyhow here they are:

I couldn't resist adding a bit of foliage to one of the StuGs. I think it makes quite a difference (in a good way!).

Looks great, Stugs really look the part with a bit of shrubbery on top! I find PSC kits in 15mm are more than enough detailed, but I can imagine that the wargaming design shows more in 20mm, especially as I understand many 20mm collectors use actual model kits. Not much at all of that existing in 1:100 scale.
