Anyone know of printed paper railways in 6mm
« on: March 28, 2022, 04:19:01 AM »
I would like to add some railway tracks to my 6mm WW2 battlefield but have a limited budget - has anyone seen printed paper railway pdfs that could be scaled to be about right? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I have a set of straights and a left spur & right spur single point section that I made by scanning my painted/based resin railway sections.
I needed to extend my set for a very long table so just added more straights hence no extra curves. You are welcome to a copy if you don't find a better option.

Basic railway tracks are very simple to scratchbuild though; 2mm card champfered at the edges stipple painted in greys with piano wire tracks and brown marker pen sleepers. Then mount on foamcore embankments as required.

I used Paper terrain for some 10mm railway track. the smallet they do i 10mm, but you can scale it down with a colour copier.

I stick  mine onto self adhesive tiles from a DIY store.  Tticking them to the adhesive side then cutting them out, this made them more robust.

It cuts easily, and if you chose your tile colour (plain grey or brown) that is the underside of the rail tracks you can turn them over to use as roads/tracks.

Thank you both for the suggestions.

I just checked Paper Terrain, and it turns out that they make a 6mm train and railway set. https://www.paperterrain.com/6mm-products/micro-scale-railroad-rolling-stock-and-track

Looks like that would be just about perfect for what I need.

Those actually look surprisingly nice. Do show us yours when they are built up.
