1980s vehicle manufacturer ID help needed
« on: April 06, 2022, 10:43:43 AM »
I brought down some models from the loft for a potential toe dip into 1980s cold war gone hot. All this stuff was boxed up in the mid 1980s, so it has been a while.

I have three models, all from the same manufacturer, but no idea who they were, if they still exist etc.

The models are all 20mm British Army. They are resin, mostly one-piece, and may have come pre-painted. On the underside they have "(C) 3-D FV" etched in them

The FV432 has 18 (possibly 81) in silver paint on its underside
The Landrover has 16 (with a . to indicate which way to read it)
An armoured car of some sort (may be a Staghound), has the number 12

Given the age I bought them in, it was almost certainly a UK manufacturer.

My problem is that searching for "3d fv" brings up nothing but 3d printed sites - something that was only available in Star Trek at the time.

I'd be surprised if the company still exists, but I am curious.

I also found five Airfix Chieftains that I'd built but never painted, and one Cromwell Models Spartan APC, still in its bag :D I failed to find the bag of Platoon 20 British that I stumbled over a few weeks ago, or another couple of kits that I know are up there :( I'm still grumpy about the eight sprues of Airfix Scorpions that I was forced to throw out during one of my parents' house moves :'(

Thanks

Thanks for that :) I have to admit that the name rings no bells whatsoever, and searching for it just brings up, well, inkpen art :)

Here's hoping the new FV432s I buy will scale with it

In other news I found the other kits this morning - an Airfix Scorpion in its box, a Revell Warrior in its box and a Dragon Challenger 2 (sadly too late for what I want). The figures, however, are still MIA
