Great paint job and fascinating story. You have to wonder how many women snuck into the ranks. It seems ridiculous on the face of it, but when you consider how bulky the clothes were and how many layers they wore compared to modern dress it becomes much more plausible.

I painted some figures of the Perry Miniatures' AWI range as Vendéens fighters.

Specially to Leapsnbou
why don't try with the Elite napoleonics. They have french for the Egyptian campaign and for the Revolutionary Wars/campaings of Napoleon in Italy.

They will be perfect but I must confess that I don't really like the sculpt (the neck / collar is a bit odd).

They work very nicely  8)

They are very few range available for Vendéens & chouans minis in 28mm not to say none! Foundry have some  figures (but more 25mm than 28mm) and Alain Touller (a french sculptor) have a 25mm range (I hope to get some).

So If somebody wants to start a  28mm range of Vendéens-Chouans, just let me know , I have a lot of pics!  :D

You may want to contact Eureka. They are already making some beautiful French and Austrians and just released Tyrolean fighters.

If you can get some of the Alain Touller figures I would love to see a picture or two. I have heard of them but they seem to be as elusive as the Grail!

The Eureka french infantry in ragged uniforms are really tempting.

They seek them here, they seek them there
Those frenchies seek them everywhere.
Are they in heaven? are they in hell?
those damned elusive Alain Touller minis.

Fortunately, I received a batch of his Vendéens minis on Monday. They are pretty and a little taller than Foundry's mob.

I painted Crusaders minis as french Hussards de la Mort.

This unit was created in june 1792 and fought at Valmy. In 1793 along with the Hussards de l’Egalité, they formed the 14th regiment of Chasseurs à Cheval. They fought during the civil war in Vendée in the Westermann Legion using the same uniform (inspired by the Prussian Totenkopf Husaren).
