That stuff you are using for the roofs is the Dogs Bollocks Bob, it looks ace.

Cheers James.
A bit time consuming as I cover one surface, clamp it down, then come back to it a little later.

Fancied a trench to defend a VC Village.
Bought a basic one from Warbases at the last Newark show.
Intended to polyfil the sides/ramparts, but them discovered it would weigh a ton, so filled in the sides/ramparts with off cuts of MDF, then skimmed over these with the polyfiler.
This kept the weight and the cost down.
Happy with the finished item, but might add firing steps.

Nice work Bob, and useful for many games other than Viet-Nam.

Yes, BOHICA does indeed make allowances for such works as trenches, etc.  And yours sure look the business.  And, as otherwise mentioned, you will find they prove to be quite versatile.  Well done!

I actually finished off the VC that were lying around, half done.
Only got a couple of choppers left for this project now.

So after what seems like the whole of the summer off, we finally got together yesterday for another go at Vietnam.

We pieced together rules and ideas gathered from all over the shop, to get a enjoyable game.

So here we go.

US forces were given this mission briefing .....

Communist forces were given this mission briefing.....

The village of Ba Troi Xanh.

US forces will be choppered into a LZ just off this recon photo, and will march to the village, using the road at the bottom of this photo.

I place my first US unit coming along the road. Nicely spread out.
Only for the second US unit, to come stomping thro my unit to take the lead on the road.

VC forces appear ahead of the US troops.
“Look out, RPG !”

Well this shout of “Look out, RPG !”, doesn’t help the first squads commanding officer, as he retires at speed thro my second unit. “Where the hells he going ?” Is muttered by my troops.

Actually caused by the worlds worst die roll ...lol

The VC RPG slams into the first unit, causing our first US casually.
One man KIA.

Ok, my second unit spreads itself. We run for cover in the jungle at the side of the road.

But as we spread out, we trigger a booby trap, causing a serious wound.

Things are getting worst for the US forces.

VC appear from the hidden positions, all over the battlefield.

Our US troops dive deeper into the jungle, chasing VC as they seem to be everywhere.

A second PRG round explodes close to the troops remaining on the road, but luckily this time, it causes no more casualties.

VC forces are now successfully outflanking our troops.
This don’t look good. Gulp!

Now the VC open up with their bigger kit.
HMG and RPG...not a good combination if you are US troops.

It was at the point our US forces withdrew to the LZ off table.
We ended up with 3 KIA, and 1 seriously wounded.
Not a good day for the US troops, but a great game.

Maybe next time I’ll have some more support to bring on the table for the yanks ?
Might even build my choppers ?

Many thanks to the lads that took part.

I think I saw VC forces, gathering communist propaganda photos during the battle. Lol

A very enjoyable game Bob, played in the right spirit.
Here are my few pictures, too busy umpiring to take lots.
981 The Village that the Americans never got near to.
983 Some of the Yanks in the Jungle.
984 & 985 NVA in their element.
986 & 987 Americans coming under heavy fire.
989 NVA off to celebrate their great victory.
982 The victorious PAVN officers.
In helmet is Thuong Uy (rank) Pham Binh Minh (played by Ian).
To the left is Trung Uy (rank) Nguyen Van Quyet (James)
The US players declined the press officer's offer to photograph them lol

But just to name & shame them they were:-
1st Lt. Larry F Potts (played by John) and
2nd Lt. Daniel D Cooper (role taken by our genial host, Bob.)

We had:- Lovely scenery & figures,
               a laugh or two,
Butties (Bacon & sausage) with Hash browns & lashings of liquids (hot & cold).

Thanks Bob. :)

Sorry about Ian with the hat.
He don’t get out much 😊😝😂
Ian, thanks for joining in with the fun.
Pete, great job umpiring. Couldn’t do it without you (as you have the qrs)
James, thanks for dropping the Saturday shift at the post office.
Some quotes from the game that I wrote down.
“If you say shoot, I’m going to hit you” friendly umpiring. 😝
“It’s all on the quick reference sheet” I wonder who says that ?
Great game, played in the right spirit.

I am going to bite the bullet and be more critical of the rules. As is, too time consuming, need drastically streamlining.

I have played Bohica once and was very underwhelmed. Any time that everything has to be filtered through the game master, and the players struggle to take care of their own die rolling and resolving actions, means that the rules have some problems. In *MY* opinion. Of course, maybe I was just being a bit thick that day and not picking it up. Everyone has their own "style" of game they like.

For example, I happen to have a buddy who loves Battleground WW II rules. I detest them.  lol  So, to each his own!!

Photos from the nationalist communist players showing the imperialist running dogs tramping around our country and being seen off by the forces of resistance.
