Must ponder doing so.  Clearly of value.  Would have helped when adding to a herd of Giraffes I painted - and have more to paint.  Don't really want three different colored variations in my giraffe herd(s).  I might suffer the pain of repainting what is already painted and that means a lot of spots!

I started keeping one about 5 years ago and has helped loads when fleshing out units with new figures or adding units.  I also started keeping color charts on any new paints or inks/washes I get.

I t might be helpful, but not for me. I always mix my paints to match the sample, being it an already painted model or a photo.

I use 'notes' on my phone. Just the basics/main colours. There are flock and terrain recipes on there as well. Quite simple but useful enough for my needs  :)
cheers

Good point. If anything, flock recipes are probably more important as they can be hard to replicate from scratch.

Given there are so many choices out there now it's certainly useful.

Always keep a diary of what I paint and build on an excel spread sheet. Im getting to the point where I cannot remember what colours I last used(old age setting in) and its a good way of keeping a log of what needs doing in what order.

I do write down colors I used for which parts, if I think I'll need them again.
Most of my projects are small groups for skirmish games, so there's little reason to add to them in the future.  But sometimes I might need to, so I do try to remember to write those colors, techniques, or mixes down.
I've also printed out the pictures and written on those.
Either works good so long as you 1) remember where you put the book when you need it 2) remember to actually look in the book for your notes...

I started a notepad document somewhere around 2009.

Since I paint pretty much straight out of the bottle, it is pretty easy to maintain. For example:

* Boots/Leather

- F. Spearshaft Shade
- F. Dusky Flesh Shade (shade)
- F. Spearshaft (light)

It's no big deal, but is invaluable to me as a painting resource.

In short - Nope :?

I should really, but I get by ;) The benefits of doing sci-fi/fantasy almost exclusively lol

Me neither until recently. Struggling to remember paint and basing recipes for additions and repairs led me to start noting them down in a jotter.

I keep a notebook describing how I paint each type of uniform of vehicle.

It is only a basic description of what paint numbers i have used and the rough mix for any dry  brush, and what i have used for a wash.

it means that when i paint additional models for an army they fit in.

I keep thinking about putting in digital format so I cannot loose it

Not as organised as most but I do have a sheet of paper on the wall where I've started writing down basic colours used for different recipes.
And though I don't keep a record of flock recipes I do keep hold of the old packaging and hope that they haven't stop producing it when the next restock is due, again.

I started one a couple of years ago, when I was painting uniformed units and figured if I wanted to add anything later, I'd want them to match.

It's pretty basic though...list of parts of figure and then the paints used.  No diagrams, no paint swatches...I'm not that artistic.
