Spectre Oil Rig Demo at PolderCon 2022
« on: May 02, 2022, 02:41:49 PM »
My oil rig project finally saw gameplay at #Poldercon 2022 in Utrecht. Several games of Spectre Operations resulted in lots of fun and happy players.

Looks very cool. Good that you where able to run a game at a con with actual real people

Given the hostage model, did the rescuers really want to rescue him?

Now you mention it, he does die a lot in games.....

Great looking board and set-up.  I would want to sign up for that game!

I learned from Speed that rule #1 is to shoot the hostage!

Insanely awesome bit of construction there, I remember the thread when you were building it. Nice to see it hit the tabletop. Am sure that anyone would be happy to get a chance to game on it, I know I certainly would be. Thanks for sharing and looking forward to your next project.

Great looking board and set-up.  I would want to sign up for that game!

I did, and it was a blast to play on   :)  What I liked most of all is the replayability of the piece; with a different deployment and different angle of attack, it'd be a completely different game.

Also, the rules set is very interesting and tactical. It's now solidly on my short-list!

And I was that terrorist player in the third game, who dropped the hammer on the hostage in the last round   :D

My opponent, through sheer luck, first angled in on the exact hiding place where I had hidden Him (with two chaperones). I had expected the assault to come from the upper deck with the SEALs fast-roping in, but instead they ditched next to the platform and worked their way up.

And since I had hidden Him in the decompression chamber, they came across Him rather quickly. I managed to hold the SEALs off for some time, but then the end of the game was called, and I decided to simply shoot Him to prevent his rescue.

In my opinion, that way everyone won...  lol

As an aside, my 2nd in command Arnold managed an M203 shot right into the open cabin of the Blackhawk, as the very first shot, in the very first turn, almost ending the entire game then and there!

Overall; I had a great and fun game; many thanks to Pijlie and my opponent for that. Oh, and congrats on winning 2nd place  in the 'best table' category too!

Well done!  The rig is fantastic, and the figs look great too.  Not sure that Blackhawk is supposed to smoke like that, though... :D
