Citadel Dark Future Sprue Mystery
« on: February 24, 2021, 11:57:13 PM »
I recently got my hands on a few new sprues of Dark Future car armaments (thanks to esteemed LAF member, @The_Beast), and when looking at them I spotted a piece that I recall wondering what it was... 30years ago. I’ve had a few off the spure car armaments over the years, but it wasn’t until I received The_Beast’s box today that I’ve had new sprues in a long time.

So... does anyone know what the circled piece is?  Attached are front and back photos of the sprue.

Are they badges to go on cars? Badges for what? To note cop vehicles? Some mine dispenser? Some other weapon? I’ve never figured it out.

Part of it is missing on your sprue, almost half of it,  and can find no image of complete bit that's clearly showing both sides

But could it simply be meant to alter, or be alternative weapon mount "hole"/point for some of the different weapons?

or its for mounting weapons slightly differently (underneath car)?

Ha! Wow... there must have been a bad batch at some point. I received several unopened metal mini blisters that these came from... all the same.

I guess it also shows how often anyone used it, as I have seen pictures now on other places of bits for sale (ok old by years in most cases), its the only bit left on the sprue.

So still no wiser regards what its actually meant for, other than "nothing important".

The circle is a turret you put on the top of the car and then stick one of the guns in it... opps sorry I misread this

I was taking stock of my Dark Future stuff last night and when I was counting up my weapons sprues and I remembered this post. Here's some not so great pics showing off the full piece. Those spues are indeed defective. So it seems basically an extension type piece with the little hole a weapons mount. No big deal really but figured you might like to see what it really looked like.

Interesting to see that they were willing to distribute that many defective sprues. But then; as it is just an obscure little thingy, I'm sure most would not have noticed. Now if it had been a part missing on one of the weapons...

And also interesting to see that they simply used 40K weapons with an added peg for use in another scale game.

I recognize the Heavy Bolter and the Lascannon from Imperial Army sprues for instance. And the barrels of a lasgun and an autogun which at least have a turret/mount.

That explains why some of the weapons in my RT stash have these nubs...  :)

I have the feeling , seing Diehard's pics, that if you "fold" the thingy on itself, to make the knob fit in the hole, you can get some kind of aiming accessory.
