Cadians
« on: May 08, 2022, 01:37:52 PM »
I decided to clear out some stuff from my boxes of things labelled 'never going to use', so this squad of Cadians was in there. I had some grand plans for fielding a Cadian force in pseudo 1980s British DPM, but got sidetracked and then the rules were updated for the umpteenth time and the whole thing got forgotten. I've finished them off and they will go on ebay to get something back.

I'm pretty pleased with how they came out. I just don't have the patience to do any more DPM!!

That camo pattern is very well done.

Thanks, I think the recipe was all using Foundry paints - Moss, Phlegm Green, Bay Brown and Black if I recall correctly with deep folds shaded with a thinned brown ink. It was a few years ago so I could be wrong on one of those. Took lots of experiments to find something satisfactory. I used my old DPM jacket I was given as a cadet in 1981 as reference. There was a great online guide somewhere too.

Camouflaged Cadians just look 'complete' somehow.

After we all left the mono-colour olive drab behind, beginning in the early eighties, military forces in one colour look less up-to-date somehow (sorry IDF  ;) ).

Great work!  8)

Great job on the camo!

Very nice work

If you are eBaying them, then I’d suggest tagging them with Kill Team, as this would make a KT force

Very nice, I never did WH40K but I did buy these long ago as they are quite generic.

Thanks for the comments.

My original idea for Cadians was to do them as highlanders. So I put together a few test figures a couple of years ago. This is one that is finished (other than the base). I like it, he’s a real mongrel mix of models - legs and torso from Kromlech, arms from Anvil, head and helmet from GW, back pack probably Kromlech.

This has spurred me to finish a few more, so that’s another bloody project to add to the list!!

This the progress on the highlanders so far. 3 completed (although only 1 fully completed) then the basis of a command squad and an infantry squad, and the most recent cobble up of bits. I have enough bits and bobs to make another squad. Overall, it’s a bit mix and match, which I quite like.

Sadly the heavy weapons highlanders no longer seem to be available from Kromlech.

Doubly sad is that I have a fractured wrist so won’t be able to progress anything for 6 weeks.
