Figures for North European Bronze Age
« on: May 13, 2022, 11:48:24 AM »
After a fun game last week with James Morris's new rules Midgard I am lookign to expand my North European Bronze Age collection and looking for suitable figures.

The core of the forces are Foundrys range and I have lots of these with plenty of conversions to expand them. I have also added Perry plastic Mahdists and some odd Greek and Egyption figures in kilt and topless alogn with some Trojan archers. Ordered some Numidian skirmishers and cavalry too as the clothing is simple enough to pass.

I wonder if anyone has bright ideas for figures in kilts and light tunics that might fit? Happy with minor conversions and head swaps.

Maybe Sea Peoples?  They are generally depicted wearing kilts.  Possibly middle eastern types?

Someone has re-released the old Amazon miniatures NEBA range - which sadly is a single pose, with 3 head variants. But it's a start!

You could 'de-undead' the Northstar Oathmark revenants for some higher status NEBA warriors. It's mostly just filling in holes/rips in clothing and replacing the heads with less desiccated versions.

The Wargames Atlantic plastic Irish have lots of figures in tunics with bare legs that make good generic bronze age types . Footsore do some comparable picts, including some naked guys that could be used as is or have kilts sculpted

Worth looking at Warlord Games’ Bronze Age range originally produced by Cutting Edge. Figures are in a different style to Foundry and now cost over £2each but worth a look. Newline also have some suitable ranges.

Thanks Guys,

Sea peoples will work with head swaps, that said I do still need to source a bunch of heads.

The Warlord figures are very slim in comparison, I have however used their slingers with head swaps as the slingers tended to be the youths of a village so work well with a shaven face head swap.

NEBA and Northstar worth a look, the Irish area good call as are picts, I have used Mahdists in tunic already as these are very generic.

Hi Rumacara, thank you.

So heads would be a mix of barehead both bearded and clean shaven, helmets would be simple bowls or with the triangle out the top a bit like some ancient British ones, or a wool hat or felt hat a bit like a fez. I have few, not sure I have enough.
