A bit of a shame especially as I thought it was almost funded.
Was happy to buy a new set of rules but I did think the figures were quite expensive.

I was hoping to see more of that Razide. Here's hoping the next go at it will be better.

The way Kickstarters work, especially for tabletop games these days, if they don't grow steadily day over day starting from day one, they tend to sputter out and fail. If they make the goal too high, then it never gets funded anyway.

It's one reason I'm not a fan of Kickstarter, at least not for games. So much of it is based entirely on hype, rather than anything real.

They already said they weren't looking to do tons of stretch goals. They offered a couple because of the great start. I actually think they should use a different platform from Kickstarter, but KS has the most visibility.

They did not tell players today "eff off" about anything, and the reality of what happened is enough of a downer without you presenting what is, at best, a highly skewed opinion, and, at worst, untruth.

I'm really unhappy with some of the Warzone community right now. This was the first hobby-related thing I've been excited about in a long time, and you ultra-negative lot decided to sink it because it wasn't exactly what you wanted.

I agree with you, but I'd phrase it differently ;). Especially the last part...the Warzone community is extremely vocal and has a strong opinion on how a new edition should be created and voice their disagreement when it's going in a different direction. I've seen so many terrible reactions on Facebook. It's saddening. In the end we all want a new game that thrives and is fun to play. So sad to see so many people screaming doom all the time without them even knowing how the game will exactly play.
Apart from how the Kickstarter went I think in general the way Res Nova approaches the launch seems very good. Slow and steady and not with a Kickstarter filled to the brink with add-ons or stretch goals. Seems better than the ones overpromising lots of stuff and extras. And yes, if a Kickstarter stalls and starts to go down again after a week, it often loses too much momentum, backers pull back and the project doesn't fund in the end. And I think it's not what you want for a new game to launch. So taking a step back, evaluating, checking what players want and then looking how to proceed again seems like a wise choice. But still, I hope some Warzone players will be less grumpy.

Yes, I was a bit harsh there. Not for the first time  ::)

I apologize if I came off hostile about this. I was really excited and seeing the project get canceled the way it did was something of a last straw for me.

I'm hoping that when they relaunch they can have one or two game-in-a-box options. While I realize that none of the returning veterans would need them, having a "this will let two people play a full game" pledges ready to go would be helpful in drawing new players.

Current projects: collecting way too many vintage Warzone models.

Although the Kickstarter failed and was canceled, Rez Nova is still working on a rerelease. They listened to the feedback and they posted new information and a new picture on their Facebook group:

State of Warzone Eternal
Hey folks,

As mentioned last week, I wanted to touch base to break our long spell of silence and give you all a look at what we've been up to over the last eight months. Things may have been very quiet around here, but Res Nova has been busy. But before I dive into those details, I wanted to address the question for which I'm sure most of you are awaiting the answer . . .

Kickstarter
We will be launching the Kickstarter this May, with the specific date to be revealed later. Our initial plan was for a slightly earlier launch, to coincide with Adepticon (more on that later), but the announcement of a new Kickstarter campaign for that same weekend by one of the big brands in the miniatures industry, as well as the realization that we should use as much opportunity as we have to get our campaign in order, suggested a slight delay. As we get closer, additional details will be released.

Res Nova Expanding
A few months ago we announced that Richard Ankney had joined Res Nova to help us with our social media and community outreach goals. As we begin to re-engage the community you can expect to see much more from him and we've already got a list of activities planned.

Additionally, Jake Oz Krajeski has joined Res Nova to alleviate some of the operational burdens of launching a miniatures game. Jake's a miniatures industry veteran who brings a deep understanding of the hobby and its community.

We're excited to have both of them on board, and I'm hoping they're contributions mean at least slightly fewer late work nights for me.

Conventions
As part of the ramp-up to the Kickstarter launch, Res Nova will have a presence at a few upcoming shows.

First, from March 22-26, Res Nova will be at Adepticon in Chicago. This is by far the favorite miniatures convention of all of us at Res Nova, and we're excited to bring Warzone to that audience. We'll be exhibiting (booth numbers are unfortunately not yet released) all weekend, running demos of Warzone Eternal at our booth and showing off a slew of prototype models. We should have some swag available at the booth as well. If you'll be in the Windy City over this weekend, pop on over and say hi.

Rick will be enjoying an extended stay in Chi-town as, the very next weekend, he'll be manning the Paint and Take booth at C2E2, one of the premier comics conventions in the US. While supplies last, he'll have available one of our WZE prototypes for participants to slap paint on. If that happens to be one of you, be sure to post to the group!
Warzone Eternal Development
While I think all of the above is exciting news, I realize that most of you want to know what we've been working on in regards to the game itself, as well as the miniatures range. Well, it's been a lot . . .

Revised Sculpts - We were not happy with several of the units in the first Kickstarter, and we know some of you weren't either. So we've taken this time to address those concerns, and almost every model in the range has been revised to some degree. We heard that people wanted more dynamic poses and not everyone felt the modular approach of our first pass was appealing.

So the first goal was to rebuild the models that we liked into figures with a level of action in their poses and a detail that's hard, if not impossible, to achieve in a kit intended to allow the modular construction of models. By eliminating the need for modularity, this also meant we could introduce some of the minor unit distinguishing details that didn't exist in our first sets - such as the variations in the Imperial Blood Beret and Golden Lion pauldrons.

Brand New Sculpts - For some units, however, we decided that slight revisions weren't enough and decided to use this extra time to go back to the (digital) sculpting table and take a new crack at the sculpts. So, several of our units, such as the Venusian Ranger shown here - NOW WITH CLOAKS! - will have brand new models.

But we didn't stop there, and decided to add a third unit to each of our Kickstarter factions. We'll reveal what those are later, but we think folks are going to be pleased.

New Faction - In addition to revised sculpts, resculpts, and brand new unit sculpts, we figured we might as well sculpt an entirely new faction for this Kickstarter as well. We're thus happy to announce that Brotherhood will be joining the Kickstarter this time around. SOME of you have been very vocal about your disappointment that the Cardinal's holy warriors weren't in the first campaign, and we get it. Having the additional time to get these folks into the campaign was an unexpected benefit of choosing to cancel the first Kickstarter.

Rules & Other Development - It hasn't been all sculpting work though. Rules development has continued (we had a third unit for each faction and a brand new faction to test) and I just pushed out a new playtest packet to our playtester group today. Playtesting will likely run up to, and past the Kickstarter, so that we can be sure to have as tight of a system as possible.

More fiction and new artwork has been commissioned, and we're eager to get to show that stuff off to you as part of our efforts to re-introduce the Mutant Chronicles world to miniatures gamers.

So, all-in-all, it's been a lot of work, but we think it's created a much better product. As noted above, more details will emerge as we get closer to the Kickstarter date. In the meantime, make sure you follow us on our various social media channels so you can keep tabs on what we're up to.

Talk to you soon,
Alex

And somebody asked them why the Panzerknacker (the assault rifle) only has two barrels and not three like the oldschool art always showed. And the response by Rez Nova shows how deep they are into the lore. Love it!

Quote from: Res Nova Games
The removal of the bottom barrel was intentional. The AG-17, unlike many of the other corp rifles, has a detachable grenade launcher. As we didn't intend to give every model in the squad access to grenade launchers due to game balance considerations, we opted to also remove them on the models so they better reflected the rules.
Expect the underslung GL option to return for various unit specialists down the road though.
