Mordheim Rules Question
« on: October 08, 2009, 04:40:05 PM »
Hi there!!

Last night o played a game of mordheim with my freinds!!
We argued a bit over one question - Does freindly models block line of sight or can you shoot "through" them????

See you

All models block line of sight to some extent. For Mordheim, which uses a "true LOS" rule, if you can see any part of the model, than the amount determines how much cover they have. Another figure usually ends up providing cover, but can sometimes obscure other models to the point of being ineligible for shooting. Pretty plain in the Shooting section of the rulebook.

We used a house rule that if you missed the 'covered' target then the figure in the way was shot at instead, using the normal to hit rules. Could be quite nasty, but we found it fun enough  :D

We did much the same, if you were "shooting past" a friendly model and rolled a 1 to hit, you potentially struck the friendly model and proceeded with the wound roll, armor save and injury roll from there.

It occasionally got silly...you know...you miss the intended target while shooting past a friendly model, critically hit the friendly model, the critical result is a ricochet.  I can think of one instance where this happened and the friendly model that was accidentally shot was knocked down from the critical hit--ricochet and the nearest model was the shooting model, who was taken out of action from his own crossbow bolt.  After the game, the model lost an eye!  His nickname from that point on was Ralphie, cause he "Shot his eye out"

Thanks for reminding me of that, Ralphie the Reiklander lives on in memory!

The rule was in the shooting section of the previous Necromunda ruleset, and we always applied that as well.

If you fail a shot by 1, then you hit the cover. This is in the official rules (since the Rules Review). :)

Cianty is right... the rules review cleared up how to shoot past or through models.  Usually it was friendly models you were shooting through because in Mordheim rules, you have to shoot the nearest target (with some exceptions).
