Second Battle of Nyrcon City
« on: January 25, 2023, 06:23:19 AM »
Ruined ground shook and pieces of wreckage were further strewn around the battlefield as Legio Furreans approached the Piacos Gate.  In the dust swirled up by the titans came the knights of Houses Perdaxis and Rahja, some of the last of those armours not yet repainted to match their allegiance to the Tiger Eyes.

The massive weaponry of the Warp Runners lit the battlefield with their intensity and soon the first Furreans titan was torn to pieces as it rushed towards the towering walls of the city.

Still the traitor god-engines moved forward, their weaponry often silent as they exchanged efforts at killing for moving faster toward their goal.  Hidden in the ruins outside the city, infantry companies trained heavy weapons on the approaching titans, hoping that their fire would in some way contribute to the defense of Nyrcon City.

Knowing that their weaponry would have limited utility against the distant titans the Legio Furreans eliminated these nests where they encountered them.  The titan killing weaponry making short work of the frail human bodies, in many cases the intense heat did not even leave skeletons behind.

Still Legio Astorum poured their fire into the oncoming traitor engines.  Only a few minutes later across the loyalist vox the words "engine kill" filled the hearts of infantry and titan crew alike with hope as they saw another titan spun around in its death throws pouring out ammunition into its own ranks as it fell.

As the Perdaxis and Rahja knights charged ahead, the threat they presented was taken seriously and quickly the knight armours were blasted apart by weapons designed to destroy much bulkier warmachines.  Only those knights that remained behind the Furrean titans escaped destruction.

Eventually the traitors were able to bring down their first loyalist engine.  This was the sign and the remaining knights charged forward, deciding that the threat they presented was not as serious as that posed by the God-engines.

The Astorum titans were not able to prevent the assault of the smaller armoured warriors and the knights were able to do some damage, crippling the Warbringer's ability to fight by damaging most of its weapons and driving the remaining Reaver back.

It was much, but it was still not enough.  The remaining Furreans titans tried to join in, the loyalist warbringer pelted with fire from three titans simultaneously.  The knights moved from titan to titan trying to stay ahead of the targeting system of the larger war machines.

After surviving a barrage of volcano cannon fire the remaining traitor warhound moved onto the flank of the loyalist reaver and managed to smash its damaged plasma blastgun into the damaged loyalists torso.  The damage was fatal but the Warp Runner was not done causing havoc in the traitor ranks yet.  It collapsed on the knights hacking at it, destroying one of the armours and damaging the other.

Eventually the combined fire of the traitors caused the Astorum Warbringer to explode.

The detonation took out one of the two remaining traitor knights and brought down the last traitor Warhound.

With its shields faltering and facing two almost completely undamaged Warlords the last two Furrean titans broke off the attack, if Nyrcon City fell, it would not be through the wall near the Piacos gate.
