Daylami figures
« on: May 24, 2022, 05:06:08 PM »
Hello, I am after a little help.

I’d like to collect a later Sassanid army in 28mm and I’m probably going to use Aventine as the main source of the figures along with A&A and Gripping Beast.  One of the options in most of the lists are Daylami light infantry.  These are not listed in any of these manufacturers specific Sassanid ranges, however, Gripping Beast do have a listing for Daylami in their Armies of Islam range but I believe these figures maybe a little later for what I want, can anyone confirm there suitability.

The illustration on the Gripping Beast web store isn’t particularly flattering, especially when compared to their Sassanid figures.  Does anyone use them, or have an opinion on them?

Thank you.

Oddsod, I can’t authoritatively comment but they look “later” too me…as do the Footsore models. I think they were sculpted by different person to the Sassanids and agree they aren’t as nice!

Thank you SJWi.  The Footsore description is 7th to 10th century or possibly later.  So probably not a good fit for me.

I have also posted this query on the Dark Age forum which on consideration may have been a better place for it.  Apologies for the duplicated thread.

I used Black tree design figures for my collection from the Persian range.
Not sure if you get the figures any more

Cheers
Matt

Bluewillow, thank you for the tip regarding Black Tree, I have checked their website but unfortunately it appears they are no longer supporting a Persian range.

I would add that, to my mind at least, it only seems fair that you should help source figures as your blog is one of the reasons I want to start collecting this army….

Thank you, I must post the rest of the army on there then!
