Evil Dave's Silent Death - Pit Viper
« on: December 11, 2022, 09:57:12 PM »
I picked up a copy of Silent Death's main boxset for cheap on eBay the other week. I got distracted from Epic and painted up a Pit Viper today. For 30+ year-old, plastic models they're very nice. The detail is crisp and the mold lines clean up quick.

Awesome I do like those minis and you have done a great job, especially like the canopy.

They are still available from EM4 Minis, though they are currently out of stock - which is concerning see: https://em4miniatures.com/products/spacecraft

Thanks guys.

@Golgotha, the Silent Death store lists them as out of stock as well. I'm guessing they're molded in China and not easily re-stocked at this point.

Very nice brushwork!  8)

Coinidentally, I painted a flight of these exact models in a similar paintscheme almost a decade ago. It appears that blue suits them very well...  :)
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Nice, Daeothar. Is the round circle thing on the tail fin a decal? If so, what did you use?

Cheers :)

It's all brushwork I'm afraid.

As I recall, I intended them to be some sort of mercenary force, so I gave them a very neutral symbol of a white circle with a black upturned V through it. This is repeated on the top right wingtip, while the left one has a number on it.

Also; your paintjob is much better than mine; I was absolutely going for quantity and speed there  :D

Here they are in the cabinet where they live nowadays. The picture is a bit sharper than the one from a decade ago, but I'm still no photographer, obviously...

Still keen to see how you do the other ships Evil Dave - my versions can be seen here: https://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=124085.30

Do like yours Daeothar, especially the numbers and markings which add a nice level of realism and detail as well as being able to tell them apart. Wish I had multiple of each of the designs only ever bought one set. I can commiserate they are also not the easiest models to photograph.
