Help needed finding decent trees for 15mm wargaming
« on: June 12, 2022, 08:59:16 PM »
I've spent the afternoon going round in circles looking for decent trees for wargaming

I'm after trees that scale well against 15mm minis - something between not masive and still able to get a single mini under the canopy.

Looking for a mix of Deciduous and Pine/Fir at diffent heights and colours

They need to be robust but somewhat realistic and have a trunk (and idealy a base) rather than just being a twist of wire.

Does something like that exist? I'm after about 20 or so trees and don't mind paying a reasonable amount  for something that'll last

These have been in my collection, and seen heavy table use, for years, without issue. They did need to add a heavy washer base, texture it, and prime these trees before giving them paint job to help them blend in with the rest of my terrain.

Here's what they look like on the table.

For woods, I use a base with a few stones, logs, and bushes. These same trees get put on the base to represent the forest, and can be moved out of the way as units pass through the woods.

Well I had no idea you were on here

your SODS reports where what switched me on to the game, I wondered where you'd got those trees and the other stuff too it looks just the ticket

Decent quality trees here.

I've tried a few from them (great service) but they've been a bit hit and miss, they shed flock like crazy and the trunks look either spindly and fragile or chunks of plastic, is a there a specific range you use?

A couple of packs of Woodland Scenics trees can get you sorted - either the already assembled or the assemble yourself.  Just pay attention to which size you buy.  I speak as a man with tens of thousands of 15 mm figures.  Do take the time to really seal the foliage onto the trees, though.

I have - what i probably should have said was this was for a mobile set so needed to be able to take a bit of bashing about - Warren nailed it for me with his suggestion -

The others have been helpful though since I will need some for the gaming table I'll be sorting in the future
