Big ol' pirate ship for your viewing pleasure!

So I painted Sophie's Revenge.  What's that, you say?

I took this a long time ago, before I worked up the courage to tackle this project.  There's quite a few 28mm scale minis in there, to give you an idea of the size of this ridiculous beast.  Starting at noon, and moving clockwise we have around her in her orbit: Reaper Bones Stygian Barge, Reaper Bones sloop (more like a big rowboat with a sail!), Reaper Bones rowboat, Games Workshop flying dwarf thingie, Blood and Plunder Bark, Blood and Plunder Tartana


Then a friend offered up his airbrush, and I ended up with this:




Here's the playable areas (the decks are magnetized together, to make it easier to play without it falling apart):



It was quite a lot of fun to paint!

Wow, great job, that ship looks bigger than several of my miniature cases!

And the walkthrough on your magnetizing was good as well; putting a slight divot into the side of the magnet's recess and releveling with green stuff has worked really well for my model bases, but I am dealing with an ounce or two at most, not really load-bearing concerns like those decks would involve.

The details on the ship were surprising, were those seahorses along the railing?

Haha, yes - it was mostly a lot of fun to paint (though the stickiness between the Contrast Paint wash and the Dullcoat spray was a bummer) but the seahorses along the rear railing of the middle deck didn't have much detail on them, so I just left them railing-black. 

A friend of mine has said he might make an RPG scenario using the ship...  Which of course would be awesome.  But it's a beauty, this "miniature"!
