Mexican Adventure
« on: June 17, 2022, 09:44:40 PM »
I have been tempted into yet another project with lovely figures, bright uniforms and shiny things. I should know better but its a period I have always wanted to do and with the release of some of the Perrys Triple Alliance and Franco Prussian ranges suddenly the figures seem to be there to do it. Some images and write up on the blog for those interested.

I found myself flirting with this campaign also but slapped myself back to reality - I'm already grossly over-committed to diverse projects already.  This a colourful ad fascinating project - looking forward to your updates.

To be honest I have flirted with this several times over the years and given myself a slap, the Perry Triple Alliance and Franco Prussian ranges have been the last straw.

Didn't get figures but have played Cinco de Mayo twice with other 15mm figures, to wit: Republicans were a mix of Union and Confederate ACW, 1859/1866 Austrians. The French were 1870 vintage with some ACW Zouaves.

I am not pleased with how the scenario played. It needs work, lots of it. The period does interest me. Looking forward to seeing your progress.

With a glorious swish of his sword and his lance
And a glorious clank of his tin-plated pants. - Dr. Seuss

Great stuff!

I have a stalled Mexican Adventure project using mostly Gringos, frustrated by the lack of completeness of the range. Also looked at using Perry Triple Alliance, too, but also contemplating selling off my collection instead. Your posts might inspire me to get back into it

No pressure then!

OK so as I mentioned a slow burner but already on with some more Mexicans and picked up some Perry Franco Prussian Chasseurs D'Afrique.

Share soon.

I've been tempted for the last 10 or 15 years, but I always seem to have too much on my plate.  I guess a small skirmish force is always a possibility...

Probably not translated into English, but there is a great French comics serie, very well researched: https://www.casterman.com/Bande-dessinee/Catalogue/albums-sauvage/sauvage-1-les-damnes-doaxaca
