Unnecessary question I guess but the completist in me needs to ask. Were schurzen painted on the inside? I don’t mean camouflage, but dunkelgelb? Red oxide primer? “exit this way”? Anyone know?

I don't really know, but I would expect them not to be painted. They wouldn't rust away anyway.

They would, but they wouldn't rust AWAY given that their thickness is a couple of millimetres at least.

Cheers lads - I know I’m overthinking this. If they’re made in a tank factory then I can see them getting automatically sprayed with primer just because. But they’re essentially disposable bits of plate steel, no doubt made in a general workshop and mated with the tank later. But then you give a squaddie a spray gun and tell him to paint that tank....
