DragonTooth Triceratops w/Howdah but no crew.
« on: June 26, 2022, 05:36:10 PM »
I've had this Triceratops in my collection since 1986. Never done anything with it, always had a plan to crew it with Goblins but never did it.

I was going to post the picture here and ask if anyone knew the manufacturer, but I just googled it  lol

It's by a 70s company called DragonTooth. It should have had a lizardmen crew, but I didn't get it with them.

Does anyone know much about DragonTooth, is there a collectors market for it, or has it been lost in time now?

Very nice specimen! Yes, Dragontooth has a strong collectors market. Scarcer than most and you could get a good price for that one, or really any Dragontooth figure or part in nearly any condition. The main guy was Tom Loback, who I think you can find online today but no longer involved in the hobby. I think I've seen driftwood art or similar that he's shared online. A one-time brother-in-law of mine knew the guy and would tell stories, but none I can remember clearly. He was a New-Yorker so I suspect Tom was too, and suspect Dragonstooth was similarly based in the US east coast.

Ah, sorry to hear. It's been a few years since I googled him.

By the way, personally I think it would be worth attempting to complete the set or sell it to someone who is trying, rather than finish it with whatever crew. And I'm not a stickler for that kind of thing, but this one is a bit special. You probably already saw the pics of the set here, but in case: http://www.miniatures-workshop.com/lostminiswiki/index.php?title=Saurians_%28DragonTooth%29. And the wiki confirms a New York address.

I've been collecting Dragontooth for about 30 years now. Very old school but I love them. Tom passed away some years back through cancer  :-[

I'm sure I knew of Dragon Tooth back in the day, but I'd totally forgot about them till today.

I've got Archworld, didn't know about the connection there. I bought that ruleset back in '82. Didn't like it compared to the new Warhammer game  lol, but the 'world' stuck with me and I put on a demo of it in 2002 at partizan in Newark, Pike & Shotte army V Goblins and Mongols. Not using the Archworld rules though.

No, It's body is in two parts & it's nicely hollowed out. It's not too bad at all.
