Thank you.

I've recently painted a load of English using Khurasan, Donnington New Era and QRF.  The latter have yet to restock their Scots so I'm stuck until they do.

I think that the rules mix and match will give a lively fun game.

Hopefully I can take some pics after Christmas.

My English infantry for Flodden are nearly done now.  Another five units on my blog and some guns.  I've used a variety of manufacturers figures that seem to work well together.

Now I can start on the Border Horse.

If it is of interest here is the link.

Nice
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

I was doing a bit of research today and came up with the following.  it concerns the colours of the Earl Marischall's banner at Flodden.

"Described as “a very simple flag”, it is hand-stitched and made from three widths of beige silk, probably once blue in colour, and trimmed with a pale gold silk fringe. The stags’ heads were painted. It has a piece of material running along the edge of the hoist end which appears not to be part of the original. It is believed that Black John caused damage in ripping the banderole from its pole and wrapping it around his body, and that the torn end was subsequently repaired."

It might be of interest for those reconstructing the Scots Army.

In other news I have found the banner of the French Men at Arms who fought at Flodden and a Highland  flag from the same battle.  I'll post both here once I have the units done.

It seems a little odd to be back painting the Flodden figures.  I had to wait months for the additional figures I needed.  Unavoidable as QRF were moving their workshop.  Anyhow the central unit of the Scots battle line is now done.  James King of Scots and his superbly equipped retinue.  in due course he will be joined by the men of Edinburgh and the Eal Marischall with his contingent.

Good looking group. How do they compare to the Khurasan, figs?

Thanks.  They work quite nicely together.  The QRF nobles above are intentionally made a bit taller than the rank and file fellows.  I'll take a comparison pic' and post it here.

Alternating from left to right QRF and Khurasan.  Figures in both cases straight out of the bag.

More progress on my Flodden Scots. I have three units left to do now.

I’ve posted all of the units completed to date on my blog.

If it is of interest here is the link.

Nice work! I finally got hold of some QRF Scots, just dipped my toe to check if they scaled okay with my other figures. Haven’t looked properly yet, but I like the look of the levy pikemen - good faces and detail.

You’re getting close to completing a sizeable project.
My armies:
- Henry VIII's army (WIP) 15mm
- Ancient Germans (28mm)
- Ancient Belgae (Gauls with German allies) (28mm)
- Massilian Greeks (Greeks and Gallic mercenaries/subjects) (28mm)
- A few EI Romans (28mm)
- Handful of WW2 British (15mm)
- A load of old 1993-1999ish Warhammer Orcs and Goblins

Thanks Ockius.  Three more foot units to go, two bands of Border Horse and I'm done.
