Plastic Zombies?
« on: July 03, 2022, 02:35:10 AM »
What are the relative strengths and weaknesses of the various plastic zombies available on the market?

Thank you!

I think the main options in the fantasy genre are GW deadwalkers, Mantic Games zombies and ghouls, and Fireforge undead peasants. I don’t have the GW figures, but I have the Mantic and Fireforge ones and they will give a fairly good variety.

I have to say unless you're looking for some kind of militarized zombie (which they also do) the Fireforge Undead Peasants are perfect.  18 minis for a reasonable price.  Far cleaner sculpts than other brands - less silly than GW.  They're simply dressed and dead easy to paint.

The nice thing is that they mirror the peasant box, so you can have actual peasants "turn" into zombies, etc.  I have a box of their undead soldiers as well (which are more or less their Northmen soldiers - but in zombie mode) but I have not yet assembled them.

I can't think of another brand I'd bother buying.  Simple, easy to build, easy to paint, attractive and understated (in a good way).

I mashed up the GW, Mantic and Oathmark zombies…wish I’d got some Fireforge too. I reckon they’d work in the mashing up!

Those are very cool - I do need more zombies for my undead fantasy army so this is just the inspiration I need.
