Sassanid Prince Ardeshir
« on: July 03, 2022, 05:48:59 AM »
My second unit of Sassanid guard cavalry. These chaps have been in the project drawer for ten years or more. The A&A kings horse was used, however I removed the raised detail with the dremel, then smoothed the trapper with wet and dry sandpaper……this has obviously taken some time  lol . A & A make up the majority of my 60 odd Sassanid cavalry and this is my final unit of cavalry for the army. Only a general and a few foot to go and it will be completed! Based for impetus like the rest of the army.

Cheers
Matt

Excellent. I think A&A are much under-appreciated and/or maybe little-known ranges. I bought Carthaginians from them over 20 years ago but "found" them again in 2020. Two years later I have completed Palmyran and 3rd Century Roman armies plus some Spanish. Very nice figures! I have also just bought a Samnite army from them.  Their monthly "deals" and P&P make them very competitively priced.

Well worth a look.

Prince Ardeshir, brother of Shapur II and leader of the Pushtigbhan of the royal hosehold. Along with his brother they successfully conquered Armenia and expanded the borders of the empire against Rome and in the east. He predominantly lead the defence in the north against the nomadic tribal invasions and squashed the nobles rebellion until his nephew was made King Shapur III. Another sub general for my Sassanid army, again an A&A miniature which make up the majority of my sassans.

cheers

I fully agree the A & A figures make up the majority of my Sassanids and late Romans. I also have a few other bits scattered amongst my ancient armies.

cheers

Wonderful work! I am currently working on some levy spearmen in 15mm for my FoG Sassanids.
