We had a fun game last night with a sleeping pirate band being surprised by a Royal Navy landing party at dawn. The Navy were trying to free the kidnapped governor and retrieve the stolen treasure. Donnybrook works very well for this sort of game, and we had a lot of fun with people being blown up by grenades, falling into unexpected bogs, being seized with religious fervour and so on. One of the pirates, Mary Reed, was the sole survivor of her unit and proceeded to kill all the grenadiers and the Commander Bligh, the Navy leader. Meanwhile the British Marines destroyed everyone sent to counter them, but were eventually forced to retreat as they were all that was left of the landing party.
