Swimming scuba divers
« on: July 11, 2022, 10:00:34 AM »
Hi folks,

I vaguely recall a company making swimming scuba divers in 28mm but I’ll be darned if I can find them. I thought it might have been crooked dice but I don’t see it on their website. Anyone got any leads?

The Crooked Dice set is 'Thunderball' style kit, standing & not wearing fins.

https://crooked-dice.co.uk/product/scuba-divers/

Eureka do a set of fairly tooled up 'frogmen', wearing boots again standing poses, no fins.

The only swimming posed figures I've come across are 'Army-men' sized.

Aside from that you'll probably find more figures in Victorian style Deep sea kit, with the big helmets and weights.

I recall having seen some too at one point... Sally 4h is a good call from Poiter50, although I think the ones I am vaguely remembering are older than that. Maybe a Reaper Chronoscope set or something from HLBS?

I thought Reaper did some swimming ones, but the closest I can see are https://www.reapermini.com/search/diver/latest

Like you, I'm sure I've seen proper swimming figures

Agree one hundred procent, but I can't for the life of me recall where I've seen them. Also; this was quite some years ago...
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

There was an American company called Goblin Tooth Miniatures that
made scuba divers. I think the range was called "Thunder Ball" after
the James Bond movie. They have been out of business for some
time. Don't if they were picked up by anyone.

Found some of the Reaper ones - Iris, Scuba girl (https://www.reapermini.com/search/diver/latest/50166)
and Frank, Scuba guy
(https://www.reapermini.com/search/diver/latest/50167)

They are definitely posed as if under water, not swimming though

See these are 1/72 in which case there are also the old Atlantic divers. see: http://www.plasticsoldierreview.com/review.aspx?id=394

I have these Atlantic divers and they are rather nice.

I would be curious to know what these Thunderball rules are like? See: http://www.plasticsoldierreview.com/review.aspx?id=394

It is surprising how few underwater rule sets, of any genre,  are available...
