Waterloo, Game at New Buckenham Historical Wargamers.
« on: July 13, 2022, 04:26:51 PM »
Over the three days of 17th, 18th and 19th of June our club rolled out our Waterloo game again. Played in 28mm using the Shako II ruleset with some house and scenario tweaks.

I had command of Alten's 3rd Allied Division plus a few independent units, to hold La Haye Sainte and the allied centre right.

Over the course of the weekend I had some appalling dice and when I did roll well my opponent invariably rolled just enough to beat me. Still my division did hang around long enough to help the allies secure a very narrow victory.

Overall a great but sometimes frustrating weekends gaming.

More about the game on my blog at Jabba's Wargaming

Thanks
Tony.

C'est magnifique mais c'est ne pas la guerre!

Looks incredible yet slightly absurd at the same time and rather shows up the problems with 28 mm for me.  The buildings (and even the troops) occupy far too much space distorting the battlefield to such a degree that it loses that sense of reality.  So fantastic figures, a huge spectacle yet slightly silly at the same time.  Quite an undertaking though so "chapeau" to all involved.

A very impressive display. Thanks for posting. It's great to see large numbers of miniatures operating in quite stunning terrain. I tip my bicorne to all involved.

Wow, that’s amazing! My gaming group has never gotten our collections to the point where we could try that in 15mm, never mind 28s. I’m a little envious!

Many thanks for your comments. Yes the buildings have far too big a footing for the ground scale of the game but they look so good 🙂
