I wanted to post just to show my intent to participate and I get two replies already :?

Elmers comes from The Works or some such sell through book chain. I think they have started re-labelling it under their own name now but its the same bottles. Bloody good stuff any rate. :)

If I was not doing canal sections for somebody else I may have had something to show by now.

I have made my decision on what I am building now though ;D

Dont let my canal fetish get in the way of your creations my good man.

What's it going to be then?

Well I have not got far but have least made a start. I purposefully did not draw up any plans and am winging it as I go. I do have a goal in mind but do not want to get bogged down in details.

Changed the thread title so everyone knows what I am trying to do. I have had a mad plan to build a Victorian take on Thunderbird 2 - all wood and brass - for a long long time. Not a lot of time to model at present so decided to start a little smaller. I have got a little further and it is starting to take shape

I wanted it to look like the original (from 200 years later) but after studying some pictures have been working from memory so it hopefully has its own feel.

The big question I am struggling with is whether to paint it yellow or somehow do it with gold/brass metallics to make it look more Victorian???????

You can't go wrong with brass and Victoriana, Svenn. Bet you could combine the two color scheme ideas. Maybe yellow with brasswork on the edges?

Thunderbird 4 :o :o
I think the shape is distinctive enough. I don’t think you need the yellow paint. Go with the Victorian brass colour scheme. :-* :-*

Looking forward to seeing this one. I'd put some kind of curve/point at the front though, the Victorians did have an understanding of hydrodynamics and even with that big square at the front being an intake, I'd hate to try and pilot it.
So many projects..... so little time.......

Worn, but polished brass and heavily varnished wood  :D

Cool idea, any crew to go with it (and a Tbird 2 for it to go in  ;D )

cheers

James
