I have this group and you've done a wonderful paint job on them!
As I bought them for Dragon Rampant, I kind of wish they had a few more poses, but you're right, great sculpts.
I've considered adding a ral partha dwarven cannon to the unit. I think it should scale right.

EDIT: Here's the range...Chaos Wars. I think it's 1/64? Maybe that's close enough to work? I like these bear riders too.

1/64 is the scale of Tom Meier's Arthur knigths so if you finally get that cannon please show a picture of it next to 1/72 :)

Your painting on the Caesar dwarves (as well as your other minis on the thread) looks great, with a really nice choice of colours!

The Caesar dwarves were one of the very few 1/72 sets that I was completely unable to find on my various trawls around ebay etc.

I am going to base my dwarf contingent primarily on the larger sets of 15mm miniatures from Blood Dawn (Magister Militum) and Eureka (where they're marketed as 15mm). As ever, 1/72 Multiverse is an amazing resource for comparing sizes:

https://72-multiverse.blogspot.com/2010/08/kingdom-of-dwarfs.html

I also picked up some of the 20mm dwarves sculpted by Bob Olley for Splintered Light. They're lovely miniatures, very characterful and beautifully sculpted, but have much larger heads proportionally in comparison to the plastic 1/72 alternatives, or the ones mentioned above. Still, it is fantasy!

I was never much of a fan of Mr Olley's work when he was producing Iron Claw ranges for GW back in the mid-late '80s, but his stuff for Splintered Light is just brilliant.

Thanks MM.
I've always being a fan of Bob Olley's sculpts but you're right about the Dwarf's heads size.
I got the Caesar Dwarves in a trade with other fellow and only have the one you see here painted, but I'm digging those Eureka Dwarves.

If you like the Eureka miniatures, a number of their Wood Elves work okay with 1/72 (at least with the Caesar elf set, not the Dark Alliance elves, which are quire a bit taller).

The Eureka 'regular' (non-Wood Elf) elves look to be a bit smaller.

Thanks but I'm painting Caesar Wood Elves at the moment and I'm quite happy with them. DA Elves and Dwarves are awful.

I am also not very keen on the DA dwarves. The third set of DA elves are okay, but they're massive. I think I will use them as spooky 'fey' for the version of 5 Leagues from the Borderlands. I prefer regular elves not to be giants (although I understand Tolkein suggests that they are pretty tall).

Cheers mate. These figures are slim and I think they need to be bright to pop out to be seen from tabletop distance, though now I'm painting some Wood Elves with more muted colours.

Thanks Bob. This scale has now what it didn't when we were children, and I'm being a child again at the moment with it  :)
