18mm Scifi Raygun Raptors
« on: July 28, 2022, 12:52:57 PM »
I got these Raygun Raptors on KS last year & finally decided to do them out in 18mm.

Quite nice minis with a lot of variation and quite unique weaponry.

They come in parts & it does take quite some time to build them in 3D builder. I almost always print
whole 18mm minis. Printing parts is for 28/32mm. Too fiddly to glue.

These are the stormtroopers & the metal mini is a GZG one.

Love those, great paint job!

I do my sci-fi in 20mm these days and am constantly looking for small 25mm or big 18mm to add to the collection. The nice thing about aliens is no one can say they are "a little short for a stormtrooper."  :)

There are 100 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary and those who can work from incomplete data.

There are a nice variety of poses available for those figures. If I had any idea what I would do with them, I'd snatch them up myself. I just have to resist trying my hand at any new projects right now.

Thank you all.
I bet they would look great ( perhaps even better ) in 28mm also. They have a lot of different options & characters

I've had them for more than a year & got them in the KS and only just started to work on them now.

It seems that the hobby is turning from a lead/plastic mountain to a digital one.... :( at least they don't take up physical space. :D :D ;)

Will post more for sure.

Those look great.  My son has been eyeing the jump troops as alternate miniatures for Tau Vespids.

Yeah, I'll probably buy them on Etsy in 28mm.

Also,  It's not painted yet, but we just bought a sci Fi dragon from Star finder minis to be our Battlesuit leader. It comes with a power weapon and a very Tau looking rifle. Not bad for 10 bucks.

Sounds good.
Star finder minis do have some great minis.

Oh, I forgot to describe paint scheme , obviously you do not have to use contrast paints BUT
these colours really come out bright.

White undercoat
Aethermatic Blue contrast top parts.
Iyanden Yellow contrast bottom parts.
Then lining with dark Blue ink ( W&N or Liquitex both are excellent )
Highlights with a duck egg white.
Pipes & wpns blue black wash then a light grey.

Hope this helps

Wow, gorgeous paint job.  What color did you use on those raptors?  I’m referring to that bluish green.  Thanks.

Thank you,
It's this one, Dan.

Aethermatic Blue
https://www.games-workshop.com/en-EU/Aethermatic-Blue-2019

and then you have this one Iyanden Yellow ( which is why it looks like a bluish green in some places )

It is a very nice blue ( in this case over a white undercoat )
