Juice (Worth the squeeze?)
« on: June 03, 2023, 09:20:06 PM »
On the out-skirts of Aye-Gog are the 'Juice' vats.
They stand over several fault lines that let the 'Juice' seep upwards.
'Juice' is
a) Unstable,  b) Very sought after & c) Useful once refined.
The local (Planet & System wide) refiner is the feared Talon Corporation.
As a result of their harsh monopoly raw 'Juice' fetches a good price on the black market...BUT

The vats are guarded (during the day) by Corporates (Corporate Security) Not many & they
don't get paid a lot, but heavy back-up is quick to respond. Raiding the vats therefore tends
to take place at Twilight just after the Corporates retreat...

'So' said Doc, 'Dat's when we go in'
'Why not wait till itz totally dark?' queried Doh-Pe.
Hap-pe butted in, 'You don't wanna be there at DARK...
Dats when de ZIGGIES come out [Dan, dan, DAN!!!!]'
'Cut da sound effects!' snapped Doc, he continued, 'We getz in, get de juice & get out!'

Ziggies = reference to an ancient Terran song
It is of note that Doc is certifiably insane.
1) This is to be represented by, at the start of each move the players throw a D6 for each
still active figure they have. The highest is Doc that move.
2) All of Doc's orders MUST be obeyed, even though they may be countermanded next turn.
3) Doc will NOT sacrifice himself for his men, quite the contrary.

Some security camera footage of the Corporates withdrawing.

For each action a figure 'dipped his bucket' into one of the vats he drew a token from the bag.
These had values from 1 to 10. remember this is un-refined Juice, so value varies from
bucket to bucket.

As the street lights came on, the ziggies started to move in. At first represented as blips
(Space Hulk counters) when spotted the blip was turned over.
a '1' became small ziggies,  '2' became medium ziggies & '3' ... 'Mother of all that's holy!!!!!
what the frack is that????'

This was a Galactic Heroes game.
Players (& at various times they all 'were' Doc)
Flatpack, Westbury & Zingara.
The basis of the scenario came from
Sci-Fi Skirmish Scenarios by John Lambshead. Scenario 1.3 'Manna from Hell'

Fun was had, none of Doc's team, though loads of ziggies,  were hurt during the game.
And ALL players scored lots of juice.   8)

Flatpack was however much better than either Westbury or Zingara & was therefore
declared the winner.

Good game, good game.
Much chat and fun was had by all.
All we could do, was dip for juice, whilst shooting spiders.
What’s not to like about that ?

Run around, NOW….

Spiders, thousands of um.

Cheers again Pete.

A great looking game, thanks for sharing.

“The juice must flow”….or something like that  :)

Looks like a cracking game! Love those Pig Iron minis. I bought that Lambshead book recently too (after seeing it recommended on this forum), it’s full of inspiring ideas - fantastic to see one realised so nicely.

Thanks for sharing! Did you build the ‘juice’ vats especially for this?

The scenery, including the Juice vats, were all built for the visit of Zingara.
The Orcs were assembled quite some time ago, but only finished the day before the game.
The Pig Iron figures were purchased about 15 years ago, then lost (small packet of 4 figures
hidden in a large Lead Mountain) They surfaced a month ago & were also finished the day
before the game.
The juice vats were the product of my current work-table practice. i.e. I keep a few things
at the side of the table so that I can use odd bits of paint etc. that otherwise would go to waste.
It helps that I like peanut butter & have a 'collection' of old lids.
