Does anyone remember 25mm?

Is it scale creep or creepy scales?

If anything Italians should be slightly smaller...

I am Italian, I am small, I know plenty of Italians who are tall. Have you ever seen any picture of Prince Amedeo of Aosta in Africa? He was tall even compared to my great-uncle (his aide de camp) and my great uncle, as my grandfather were not small like me. But that is the difference between a tanker (me), a Pilot (grandad), and Alpino (Uncle Guido).

I think it is more to do with the new line, the new figures seem a bit taller in general. Looking at the new British Infantry, or the Winter Wehrmacht and Afrika Korps some of the bodies are larger than previous iterations.

I mix mine with Artizan and Empress and usually don't mind it much. It's not crazy scale differences. Albeit, the Empress figures do look finer, same as the Perry's, not so much that I mind however.

And the new plastics are an improvement over the old boxes they did. Just look at the old german infantry box they did with the seperate weapons.  lol

I do have a few of the Italians for conversion purposes, and they do look okay next to my Empress ones.

That is my personal opinion however, and I understand if people disagree.

I'm sooooo old I remember a letter in a wargames mag (Wargamer's newsletter?)
of an 'Established Wargamer' lamenting the trend away from 30mm & over to the
'new' 25mm from Mini-figs.
 lol lol lol

Dang, has.been, that is old... ;D

I guess the more things change, the more they stay the same...

I have a few old 25s, but most of my 28 stuff is a variation of 28mm.  The size difference doesn't bung me up much, unless it's glaring (and then usually because of drastic differences in like weapon sizes).  I have a mix of older and newer Warlord (both metal and plastic),  Battle Honors, Artizan Design, Black Tree Design, Perry plastics, and Empress.  I happily mix them on the field of battle.  But, this is also just my way of thinking.  Your results may vary.

I will mix, more on the battlefield than within a unit.
e.g. a unit of Hinchcliffe Napoleonics will (in my humble
opinion) be OK along side an Eagle or Front Rank unit.
Essex 25mm Ancients are (IMHO) usable with Foundry,
& so on.
Some mixing within my units does occur. A sliver of card
under the bases of the 'short' ones brings their heads in-line,
& (for me) they will pass muster.

The problem is not so much the difference in size of the miniatures - as people differ in size - but their standardised equipment like rifles etc.

Yup.  Not that this has anything to do with Warlord Italians,  but my best example is my US Airborne boys.  I have both Warlord metals and plastics and Battle Honors metals - there is a serious difference in the size of their BARs.  Part of that is that Battle Honors are closer to 25mm.  I just put them in different squads, and call it a day...

I can agree on the points made here. No idea if you have seen them CapnJim, but for instance the weapons and the like on the Warlord Winter US Veterans and troops differ greatly in size from the plastic ones.

Similiar with say using Rubicon Panzerschreck AT weapons on Bolt Action minis next to their offering for Panzerschrecks, also differing in size.

I have not seen them in the flesh, er, metal.  But my WW2 stuff is dressed for a bit warmer weather than the dead of winter...

Good note about the Rubicon Panzerschreck vs. the Warlord ones.  I'll keep that in mind when I get around to my Panzer Lehr Panzerschreck team(s).

Broadly speaking new stuff is consistent, but...they seem to occasionally supplement their main sculptor the Polish fellow Wojchiech with another fellow who is very mixed, bland at best and stuff is 32mm scale so towers over everything else.

See the Australian range for an example.
