Blood for the Baron!
« on: August 09, 2022, 04:12:00 PM »
One for the Palitoy generation...

The Red Shadows are fanatical brainwashed troopers loyal to Baron Ironblood, and sworn foes of Action Force. (This was a UK toy range spun off from Action Man in the early-mid 80s).

Put together from Anvil bits. The head isn't true to source, but I actually prefer it.

The gun is too big - imagine lugging that around. I need to explore the Anvil range to see if they do a smaller one, or find another option somewhere.

Otherwise, I think Anvil would let me do the Black Major and a sort-of Muton. I have got some ideas for Kraken and (via a headswap) for the Baron himself...

What a coincidence; I only just watched a guy on Youtube who showed off (in detail) his complete Action Force collection!

I have 3 of the original figures my mother bought for me back in the early eighties when I was a kid (apparently they were a thing over here too, right along GI Joe to boot), but I never knew from which line they were. So I was elated to finally learn their origin.

It actually was a fun line, mix and matching toys and figures from a range of different original lines into a coherent whole.

I now recognize the red uniform of the bad guy troopers, thanks to that Youtuber; great work on that! Curious to see how you'll do the Baron's interesting headgear :D
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Nice work!

You've reminded me I've got a bag full of 3d printed Red Shadows helmets waiting to be applied to Warlord WW2 Germans  :D

Despite numerous requests from the modern gaming community, Anvil sadly seem unwilling to even explore the possibility of rescaling their guns for a more realistic look  :-[  For better sized guns, I've seen good results the Warlord plastic special forces on the Anvil bodies (on this very forum, I believe), or you could try TAG or Full Metal Miniatures for their separate weapons.
