FK&P AAR: Cossacks vs Muscovites
« on: September 02, 2022, 07:37:02 AM »
Time to get the Muscovites onto the tabletop and into action, with their opponents being the Zaphorogian Cossacks. Russians verses Ukrainians: who would have thought!

I played the Cossacks, daughter #1’s boyfriend, Kavan, played the Muscovites. The rules used were For King & Parliament with the Eastern Front adaptations taken from the Tales from a Wargaming Shed website.

This turned out to be a fast and furious battle with what seemed like an endless wave of Muscovite horse crashing onto the Cossack tabor and infantry.

Great looking game 👍. An interesting match up in a mounted force v a mainly infantry force. How do the rules treat the wagons in melee?

The Cossacks had another go at defeating the Muscovites, this time adding some Transylvanian allies to provide some decent cavalry to support the wagon tabors.

See how they did here:

Sterling work, interesting army as I am just putting the same together for GNW.  After seeing your I may add some allies into mine.

What are the figure manufacturers you use please? and what scale?

I am working in 28mm atm.

These are all 15mm from the By Fire & Sword range from the Polish company Wargamer.

They are, however, becoming increasingly harder to find in the UK.

Wolivant, if wanting to stick to 28mm I would check out The Assault Group ( TAG) 's Renaissance ranges. They produce Poles, Cossacks, Hungarians and Croats which may prove useful. However they are at the "expensive" end of the market.

Shouldn't be, in Wargamer UK we're normally able to get anything from the range from Poland.

I stand corrected: you do seem to have had a general re-stock, but this must have been recent as when I was looking a few weeks ago there were loads of Out of Stock markers on the website.

That's not a complaint BTW: I'm really pleased to see everything available again: lovely figures, huge range, good value, and everyone needs at least one unit of winged hussars in their collection! Highly recommended.

Good to finally meet you too!

I wish I could claim credit for the cavalry, but I bought them, fully (and well) painted off The Black Crane. The Cossacks are all my work though!

Post-Brexit deliveries are bit, let's just call it gently, problematic, so sadly we often had to wait fairly long time for re-stock.
